The InterContinental New York Barclay is a luxurious 4 star hotel in the heart of Midtown Manhattan. The elegant hotel was originally constructed as part of the Grand Central Terminal expansion and opened its doors in 1926 as The Barclay, with the property becoming a railroad hotel that was built to service well-heeled men and woman travelling to New York City. The hotel has recently reopened in spring 2016 after an ambitious $180 million restoration, and now offers modern touches to its signature Federalist style décor. Times Square is just a 15 minute walk from the hotel, as is Broadway and the theatre district, making it an ideal choice for those taking in a performance on a world famous stage. Many of New York City`s most popular attractions are also within walking distance from the hotel, with the Chrysler Building a 6 minute walk away and the Empire State Building just a 20 minute walk away.
The 4* InterContinental New York Barclay elegantly combines sophisticated and contemporary design, exuding the same warmth and confidence it has since it opened its doors in 1926. Each of the 704 thoughtfully designed guestrooms and suites have been furnished in a Park Avenue residential-style with carefully selected artwork that pays homage to The Barclay`s 1926 legacy. Each room features an en-suite bathroom with multi-function showerhead, flat screen LED televisions, Wi-Fi, minibar, safe, 300 thread count sheets and hypo allergenic pillows. The Barclay restaurant offers a menu of modern cuisine that pays tribute to the history of New York City dining in a chic and refined environment. After dinner why not head to The Gin Parlour, which is inspired by Dutch and English gin bars on the 1920`s. The bar serves an array of specially selected brands and varieties to suit every palate, with over 88 premium gins in addition to other traditional flavours.
